Oncospace Inc. Launches New Predictive Planning Solution for Radiation Oncology
Cloud-based application poised to have a meaningful impact on optimizing outcomes for both patients and the practice
BALTIMORE, SEPTEMBER 15, 2021—Oncospace, Inc. today launched its AI-powered, data-driven, Predictive Planning solution for radiation therapy to the commercial market. Designed to have a meaningful impact optimizing outcomes for the patient and the practice, it enables radiation oncology clinicians to confidently predict achievable treatment plans for their prostate cancer patients, consistently promote best practice behavior, and seamlessly share their expertise
Radiation oncology practices across the US are adapting to numerous changes. For example, capitated reimbursement drives more efficient treatment strategies; empowered patients critically evaluate their treatment options; healthcare consolidation increases operational complexity; and staff expertise evolves to meet changing technologies.
The foundational technologies used in radiation oncology to address these changes (e.g., dose calculation, delivery optimization, advanced visualization, and information systems) continue to demonstrate a state-of-the-art level of sophistication, maturity, and capability. Yet, an opportunity exists to better harness these technologies and the information they create.
It’s this opportunity that motivated the initial Oncospace project at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
“This journey began with an ambition to create a structured, curated database of treatment planning information and to use machine learning and other methods in developing tools for physicians to evaluate achievable, personalized treatment pathways,” said, Todd McNutt, Ph.D., Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of Oncospace, Inc. “It is exciting to be on the threshold of taking this academic and clinical research program to a new phase, making it available to the wider clinical community.”
Oncospace, Inc. has developed its SaaS solution cloud first on Microsoft Azure and has been collaborating with Microsoft for Startups, Microsoft’s global program to accelerate the growth of innovative startups.
“Oncospace exemplifies a new wave of startups who are accelerating digital transformation in the healthcare space,” said Sally Frank, Worldwide Lead, Health and Life Sciences, Microsoft for Startups. “We look forward to working with them to deliver this solution to our joint customers.”
Oncospace will demonstrate its Predictive Planning solution at the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, Sunday, October 24 to Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
Oncospace Predictive Planning solution is 510(k) cleared and for sale in the United States only.
